I'm JL Magick, and i am the first DEMON OWNED cosmetics brand.
I began my journey into the world of cosmetics when I was 15 years old by purchasing my first products that I had seen from watching youtube makeup tutorials for halloween vampire makeup. It is safe to assume that I appeared to have more of a black eye rather than the rust red and black smoky eyes that I was trying to emulate.
I would go on to experiment on myself for a few years, trying on different, daring, and unusual color combinations, finding products with formulas that satisfied my expectations, and refining my application techniques for the desired results.
Eventually this let me down the road of photography as a means to document my work and progress. I started using my iPhone 6s plus at the time, along side two flourescent desk lamps to photograph the various models that I would work with in order to build what would be the start of my portfolio.
After a while, I upgraded to a DSLR camera and continued to work with models of various ethnic backgrounds in order to continue expanding my skill set in application technique, formula knowledge, and color theory.
While experimenting with cosmetic application and photography, i was completing my Bachelor's degree in molecular biosciences, which would be the basis on my extended knowledge of product formula. With this new understanding on chemistry, I began to realize that many cosmetic lines were simply not performing to my expectations as well as having a lack of colors within specific groups of products.
I began to research various products and their formulas as well as the function of each chemical componet present in order to gain a deeper understanding on how and what each ingredient would contribute to the overall product.
This is where Demon Magick Cosmetics was born.
Combining extensive research and experimentation with a close and personal handcrafted touch, my products will provide simple yet reliable formulas on ever expanding color ranges.
